| Mel Gibson Born in upstate NY in 1951, he moved to New South Wales in 1968, and later began a career in film that included acting, producing and directing. His screen credits include the "Mad Max" trilogy, "Gallipoli", and his epic"Braveheart", which collected Best Picture/Director Oscars in 1996. My sixth oil painting this year was completed on July 4th, not entirely coincidentally the release date forThe Patriot. I decided to use a landscape format rather than the traditional portrait style, as I wanted the flag in the background to sweep across the work horizontally. It may have turned out a little more tattered and grubby than first intended, but I like it anyway. All in all, it was a relief to return to some bold masculine features, after the careful rendering of Courtney Love and Drew Barrymore. (Lots more room for error,heh heh..) |
